Hi, I'm Katy
Therapist. Mother. Writer. Deeply Human
Registered Clinical Counsellor, writer, and workshop facilitator working with individuals, couples, and teams to get beneath the surface of things.
I didn't plan to end up here. But I also can't imagine doing anything else.
I spent a decade working in anti-violence and crisis response before I opened my own practice. It was important, necessary work. It also cost me something and I didn't fully understand what until I sat down in a therapist's chair myself.
That experience changed everything. Not in a lightning bolt kind of way. More like a slow exhale I didn't know I'd been holding.
I started to understand what was actually happening in my body when I was overwhelmed, why certain relationships depleted me, and what it meant to actually tend to myself, not just push through. I wanted to understand it more. So I kept going.
Now I hold that same space for other people. In therapy, in workshops, in writing. I bring my clinical training into the room, but I also bring myself, the parts that have struggled, healed, and are still figuring it out.
A little about the training behind the work.
I hold a Master of Education and am a Registered Clinical Counsellor. My primary modality is Somatic Attachment Therapy — a body-based approach that works with the nervous system and our earliest relational patterns. I've completed two years of formal training with Bringing the Body and am currently in their advanced practitioner program.
I'm also trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy, and everything I do is trauma-informed — shaped by years of frontline work in the anti-violence and crisis sector.
What this means in practice: I don't just work with what you think. I work with what your body holds, what your patterns are trying to protect, and what becomes possible when those patterns finally have room to shift.
I offer individual therapy, workplace workshops and training, case consultation for organizations, speaking, and writing. All of it is connected. All of it comes from the same place.
I also bring this work into organizations.
I run workshops and training for non-profit and corporate teams on nervous system regulation, burnout, team communication, and empathy. If you're looking for something with real clinical depth — not a generic wellness package — that's what I do.
